Jonathan Force III was an Adulterer and Bigamist
Jonathan Force III and Dorinda Bond Force were married in July of 1865 in The Bond Force House in Roseland (then called Centerville). They had two children in the house - Frank Bond Force and Anna Brittania Force. Only five miles away from The Bond Force House, Jonathan, the father of Annie and Frank, married Susan Amanda Baker in 1881. Susan, who was barely 20 at the time, was the daughter of Daniel Norris Baker and Adelia Collins. Jonathan and Susan then became active congregants in Susan's parent's church, the Livingston Baptist Church.

However, about seven months after Jonathan married Susan, in May of 1882 to be precise, the elders at the Livingston Baptist Church learned something shocking: Jonathan had an ailing wife and two young children just a few miles away - and the truth about Jonathan Force III had come to light. The records reveal this dark moment in the Church's history in bible-based code. Ted Smith, the Clerk, recorded the proceedings as follows:

Livingston May 13, 1882
According to previous notice, the Livingston Baptist Church met in special meeting this afternoon. The meeting organized at 3:30 P.M. with the Pastor as Chairman and was opened according to due form. The object of the meeting was stated, and the nature of the business to be attended to explained by the chair. It was then moved by Mrs. Jonathan Teed, and seconded by [William] Smith, that Mr. Jonathan Force and his wife, whose name appears on the church records as that of Miss Amanda Baker, be excluded from membership in this Church, because they have violated the law of Christ in respect to marriage as it is recorded in Matthew 19, 9 verse[;] Mark 10, 11 & 12 verses & Luke 16, 18 verse. After remarks which were participated in generally, by those present, the above motion was carried unanimously. The minutes were then read and corrected after which the meeting was closed in due form.

Thus, it became known that Jonathan Force III had “putteth away” Dorinda Bond Force and had married another - Susan Amanda Baker -- and his life was ruined, or so it would have seemed. Only six months after Jonathan and Susan Amanda were excommunicated, Dorinda Bond Force died suddenly and mysteriously on Monday November 27, 1882. She had just turned 40.

Matthew 19:9: And I say unto you, Whosoever shall put away his wife, except it be for fornication, and shall marry another, committeth adultery: and whoso marrieth her which is put away doth commit adultery.

Mark 10:11-12: And he saith unto them, Whosover shall put away his wife, and marry another, committeth adultery against her. And if a woman shall put away her husband, and be married to another, she committeth adultery.

Luke 16:18: Whosoever putteth away his wife, and marrieth another, committeth adultery: and whosoever marrieth her that is put away from her husband committeth adultery.
